Al-Imdaad Foundation Extends Humanitarian Aid at Musina Repatriation Centre for Illegal Migrants

Spokesperson Abed Karrim confirms the organization will continue supplying fresh meals, hygiene packs, and essential support to migrants in Limpopo until the repatriation process is fully complete.

MUSINA, Limpopo — The Al-Imdaad Foundation has pledged to maintain its humanitarian operations at the Musina repatriation centre in Limpopo, ensuring continuous support for illegal migrants until their verification and repatriation is fully realized. Working alongside a broad coalition of civil society groups, farmers’ associations, and local NGOs, the organization is delivering critical relief to individuals navigating the formal processing stages.

Abed Karrim, a spokesperson for the Al-Imdaad Foundation, explained that the organization’s relief mission originally mobilized in Sherwood, Durban, at the very onset of the crisis. Teams were rapidly deployed to address the acute humanitarian needs of displaced individuals who had been left without shelter, initially focusing on distributing food, hygiene packs, and other vital necessities.

Now entering its third week of active support at the Limpopo facility, the foundation coordinates its efforts closely with community formations on the ground. Karrim detailed that their targeted interventions are strategically timed to occur immediately after migrants complete their documentation and verification protocols with the Department of Home Affairs.

At the centre, the foundation’s teams prepare fresh meals on a daily basis. Volunteers actively distribute this food alongside crucial care items, including nappies for infants, wet wipes for young children, and sanitary products for women. Drinking water and other daily requirements are systematically consolidated into individual provision packs.

Once migrants exit the distribution tent, they proceed to designated boarding areas. Before embarking on buses bound for their respective home countries, each individual is handed these prepared packs, ensuring they have adequate provisions and support to sustain them during their journey home. The foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to this humanitarian corridor until the final repatriation processes are concluded.
