Western Cape Tactical Response Team Arrests Suspect for Mandrax Tablet Possession in Strandfontein

Intelligence-led operation in Bayview uncovers hundreds of illicit tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash ahead of a scheduled court appearance.

STRANDFONTEIN – The Western Cape Tactical Response Team arrested a 45-year-old suspect for the possession of mandrax tablets following an intelligence-driven operation in Bayview, Strandfontein, on Sunday, 23 August 2026.

According to law enforcement officials, the operation targeted an identified premises located on Nautical Close. During the search, authorities discovered a substantial quantity of suspected narcotics. The seized items included 11 bags containing 1,000 mandrax tablets, 18 bags containing 100 mandrax tablets, and one additional bag containing 80 mandrax tablets.

In addition to the illicit substances, police recovered an undisclosed amount of cash at the scene. The total street value of the confiscated mandrax tablets has not yet been determined and remains under active investigation.

The 45-year-old suspect remains in police custody. Authorities confirmed that the individual will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court to face formal charges once they have been finalized. This arrest aligns with ongoing regional efforts to remove dangerous narcotics from local communities.
