Emergency Medical Volunteers Respond to Severe Leg Bite on Sonstraal Road

DFW Rescue NPC stabilizes 23-year-old victim at Palmiet Farm and coordinates urgent ambulance transport.

DRAKENSTEIN — Emergency medical volunteers from DFW Rescue NPC responded to a severe leg bite incident on Sonstraal Road after local residents requested urgent assistance at the Palmiet Farm labour cottages.

Arriving at the scene at 18:44, DFW Emergency First Aid responder Anthea Carlse and fire commander Daan Van Leeuwen Boomkamp immediately attended to the 23-year-old victim. The responders successfully cleaned and bandaged the wounds on her leg to provide critical initial care.

Given the severity of the injuries, the team determined that professional hospital transport was required. An ambulance was initially requested at 18:47 through the DSSN municipal centre. To expedite the emergency response, a direct request for the ambulance was subsequently made at 18:56.

The incident highlights the ongoing community support provided by DFW Rescue NPC. Established in 2017, the organization operates as a private, non-profit, and volunteer-driven entity. Their emergency response teams are trained to assist the public with a wide range of critical events, including fires, accidents, and general incidents.

The volunteer responders expressed their hopes for the young woman’s complete recovery as she awaited the arrival of the ambulance for transport to a medical facility.
